In this article, we will show you how to download and install Mathworks Matlab R2016b on Windows using an ISO archive. An ISO archive is a file that contains all the files and folders of a DVD or CD. It is useful for installing software on an offline machine or for creating a backup copy of the installation media.
Step 1: Download the Matlab R2016b ISO archive
To download the Matlab R2016b ISO archive, you need to be a license administrator or have access to a license administrator's account. You also need to have a Mathworks account and be logged in to the Mathworks website. Follow these steps to download the ISO archive:
Go to the [Mathworks Downloads page].
On this page, in the "I WANT TO:" drop-down select "Get ISOs and DMGs".
On the left side of the screen, select the release you want to download. You may need to click on show more to find the release you are looking for. Note: ISOs are not available for R2008a and earlier.
To select which operating system you wish to download the ISO for, click on the downward arrow on the blue download button.
Click on the download button to start the download. The file size is about 7.5 GB, so it may take some time depending on your internet speed.
If you are not an administrator on your license or you have a Home, Student, or internet-generated Trial license, you will not be able to download the ISO archive. You will need to use the Download-Only workflow to get offline installation files. Refer to this [article] for more information.
Step 2: Mount or burn the ISO archive
Once you have downloaded the ISO archive, you need to mount it or burn it to a DVD. Mounting an ISO archive means creating a virtual drive that can read the contents of the archive as if it were an actual disk. Burning an ISO archive means writing the contents of the archive to a physical DVD that can be inserted into a DVD drive.
The method you choose depends on your preference and availability of a DVD drive and a blank DVD. Here are some ways to mount or burn an ISO archive on Windows:
On Windows 8.1 and newer, double-click an ISO archive to mount it. The ISO archive will appear under This PC as if it were an actual disk. Alternatively you can right-click an ISO archive to burn it to a DVD.
On Windows 7 and older, you need a third-party software such as [PowerISO], [WinCDEmu], or [ImgBurn] to mount or burn an ISO archive. Follow the instructions provided by the software to mount or burn the archive.
Step 3: Run the installer
After mounting or burning the ISO archive, you can run the installer by following these steps:
Open the virtual drive or DVD drive that contains the mounted or burned ISO archive.
Run "setup.exe" to run the installer.
Follow the instructions on the screen to install Matlab R2016b on your Windows machine.
You may need to enter your Mathworks account information and your license number during the installation process.
You may also need to activate your Matlab installation after completing the installation process.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed Mathworks Matlab R2016b on your Windows machine using an ISO archive. You can now launch Matlab from your Start menu or desktop shortcut and enjoy the new features and enhancements of Matlab R2016b.
